How to pick the right wedding photographer!

It’s the big day! Your wedding is finally here, and you couldn’t be more excited. You’ve dreamed of this day your entire life, and everything is perfect. Well… almost everything.

Let’s step back a little there is one incredibly important thing left to do: pick a wedding photographer. But with so many photographers out there, how do you choose the right one for you?

(Scroll down to continue)

First, think about what style of photography you are drawn to. Do you prefer classic and romantic portraits, fun and candid shots or just a good mix of everything?

Fear not, engaged women everywhere! I’m here to help you figure out how to pick the right wedding photographer for your big day. Just follow these simple steps, and you should be good to go!

Once you have an idea of the style you like, start by finding photographers with photos you like. Search your venue such as Wedding Photographer Saint John’s Resort Plymouth MI. Once you searched look for company names and not websites like TheKnot or Wedding Wire or a hotel site. You want to see photos and not be linked to another site to search again, so scroll down.

Once you find photos, right click (that way you can return to where you left off) into the photographers portfolio. Make sure they have a good mix of photos from different weddings – not just a couple of events – that way you can get a sense of their work style. Also, pay attention to the quality of the images – are they crisp and well-lit, or dark (under their eyes especially in bright sun) and moody? Do they also have effects you like – but remember the effects will not be timeless – so that orange or brown hue may look weird in years to come?

Finally, get feedback from past clients by looking at their reviews. Make sure you look for responsiveness, were they easy to work with, and if they were happy with the final product.

Remember every person is different so every photographer is different not only in their personality but in the experience and types of photos they create. Watch out for studios with a lot of photographers as it is important to know exactly who will be with you on your day, is it someone where this is their life’s work or someone with a side hustle trying to make an extra buck.

And finally remember the photos and video you receive are how you will remember one of the most important days of your like!.
